100-Hour Teacher Training Course

Course Objectives
- Learn the foundational postures of yoga (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama) and meditation techniques.
- Understanding of the philosophy of yoga and its application in everyday life.

Core Syllabus
1. Techniques, training, and practice (50 hours).
- Asana (Postures)
- The foundational poses are introduced: Standing, Sitting, Forward Bends, Twists and Gentle Backbends.
- Basic poses and alignment principles for safety.
- Explore the sun salutations, or Surya Namaskars (and their variations).
- Pranayama
- Practise basic pranayama: Nadi shodhana (alternate nasal breathing), Kapalabhati(cleansing breath), Anulom Vilom.
- Understanding the role that breath plays in improving focus and relaxation.
- Mindfulness and Meditation
- Guided meditation and stress reduction practices.
- Introduction to breathing awareness and mantra mediation.
- Mantras & Chanting
- Learn simple mantras like Om and Gayatri Mantra.
- Exploring the benefits of vibrational sound in yoga practice.
2. Anatomy and Physiology (10 Hours)
- Basic Anatomy
- The musculoskeletal systems are relevant to the practice of yoga.
- Understanding the impact of Yoga on the respiratory system, the circulatory system, and the nervous system.
- Yoga and Movement
- Understanding body mechanics, joint safety and more.
- Warm-up and cool down practices are important.
- Energetic Anatomy
- Introduction to chakras (energy centers), nadis (energy channels) and prana.
3. Yoga Philosophy of Lifestyle and Ethics (15 Hours)
- Foundational Philosophy
- Introduction to Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras : the eight limbs and yogic practices.
- Understanding yoga as a union of self-awareness and union.
- Self-Discipline and Lifestyle
- Integrating the yogic principles of yama and niyama into everyday life.
- Basics of yogic nutrition and mindful living.
- Ethics for yoga teachers
- Explore the ethical and responsibilities of yoga teachers and practitioners.
4. Teaching Methodology (15 Hours)
- Introduction To Teaching Skills
- Basic techniques to guide a yoga class.
- The emphasis is on providing clear instructions, demonstrating, and creating a secure environment.
- Class Sequencing and Structure
- Simple sequences to teach beginners.
- Balance effort and relaxation during practice.
- Building Confidence
- Practice teaching in small group with peer feedback.
- Awareness of the needs of students and basic modifications.
5. Practice (10 hours)
- Observation
- Observe experienced teachers in live classes.
- Analyzing the teaching style and class dynamics.
- Practice Teaching
- Under supervision, you can lead yoga classes.
- Class management and alignment cues are refined.
- Feedback
- Discussions constructively aimed at improving teaching methods.
Daily Schedule
- 6:30 AM to 8:00 AM Morning Asana Practice
- Breakfast : 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM
- 9:30 – 11:00: Anatomy or Philosophy Class
- 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM : Teaching Methodology & Practicum
- Lunch Break 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
- 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM: Specialized Workshops (Meditation, Chanting, etc.)
- 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM: Evening Asana Practice
- Dinner 6:00 – 7:00 pm
- Self-Reflection & Assignments 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM
100 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Certification
Graduates will receive a certificate of completion. This can be used as the first part in a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certification. This qualification is the basis for teaching yoga on a basic or advanced level.
Pre-Requisites
- Yoga is not a prerequisite for previous experience.
- Open to anyone who has a regular practice of yoga or is interested in yoga.
- Attendance and participation at all class activities.
Location and Accommodation
- The programs are held in a serene and retreat-like setting conducive to personal growth.
- The accommodation options range from shared dormitories and private rooms to wholesome vegetarian meals.
